New Delhi, the 3rd October, 2008

Subject:-Rates of Dearness Allowance applicable w.e.f. 1.7.2008 to the employees of Central Government and Central Autonomous Bodies continuing to draw their pay in the pre-revised scale.

The undersigned is directed to say that this Department had issued orders on revised rates of Dearness Allowance based on AICPI(IW) index 2001 series for Central Government employees based on the revised scales of pay approved by the Government that came into effect from January, 1 2006 on acceptance of the recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission vide O.M.No.l (3)/2008-E.II(B) dated 29th August, 2008.

2. These rates however, are not applicable to the Central Government employees who had exercised an option to continue in the pre-revised scales of pay based on 5th CPC’s recommendations or to those whose pay and allowance had not been revised, for different reasons in conformity with various Government decisions on the Commission’s recommendations. The rates of DA w.e.f. 1.1.2008 for Central Government employees in pre-revised scale of pay were issued vide OM No.l (l)/2008-E-II(B) dated 17th March,2008

3. The rates of DA admissible to above categories of employees of Central Govt, and Central autonomous bodies shall be enhanced from the existing 47% to 54% w.e.f. 1.7.2008. All other terms and conditions contained in OM No.l (l)/2008-E-II (B) dated 17th March, 2008 shall continue to apply.

4. The contents of this Office Memorandum may also be brought to the notice of the organizations under the administrative control of the Ministries/Departments which have adopted the Central Government scales of pay.
