OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject: Recommendations of the Third Pay Commission relating to Nursing Staff- Grant of qualification pay.
The undersigned is directed to refer to the Ministry’s O.M.No.F.5(11)/E.III(A)/75 dated 8th may,1975 stating that the nursing staff who possess at the time of recruitment or acquirement quently a degree in Nursing should be granted two advance increments provided they are not required to possess the aforesaid qualification as a condition of their employment. These orders are effective from 8th May, 1975. a doubt has been raised whether the two advance increments may be granted with effect from 8.5.75 to the Nursing Staff holding a degree in Nursing and already in service on 8.5.75
It is clarified that the two advance increments will be admissible
i) with effect from 8.5.75 to those Nursing personnel in service who possessed the degree in nursing as on that date;
ii) with effect from the date of appointment, to those who possess the degree qualification and are requited after 8.5.75; and
iii) with effect from the date of publication of result of the degree in nursing for those in service who acquire the degree qualification after 8.5.75
Provided that the Nursing Staff concerned are not required to possess a degree in nursing as a condition of their employment. provided also that they had not been allowed a higher initial pay on account of possessing the degree in nursing prier to lotion of after 8.5.1975.
2. The clarification order issued under Ministry of Health and Family Planning Department of Health letter No.2224/76-MPT, dated 5.5.76 is hereby cancelled.
