OFFICE MEMORANDUM
Subject:- Grant of benefit under “Next Below Rule.”
The undersigned is directed to refer this Ministry’s Office Memorandum No.F.1(20)-E.III(A)/67 dated the 25th March, 1968, on the subject mentioned above and to say that the existing provision regarding the grant of officiating promotion under the Next Below Rule in vacancies each of more than 120 days’ duration has been reviewed further and the President is pleased to decide that the benefit of officiating promotion under these orders, subject to fulfillment of the conditions laid down under the Next Below Rule, can in future be allowed against promotions in vacancies each of more than 90 days’ duration as against the existing limit of 120 days. This benefit should not be allowed in respect of promotions against the existing limit of 120 days. This benefit should not be allowed in respect of promotions against a chain of vacancies which taken together extend beyond 90 days.
2.Insofaras Government servants serving the Indian Audit and Accountants Department are concerned, these orders have been issued in consultation with the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
