Rajasthan government raises dearness allowance for state employees and pensioners by 4%

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, has approved a 4% increase in dearness allowance for state employees and pensioners, bringing the rate to 42% as of January 1, 2023. The decision will benefit around 800,000 state employees and 440,000 pensioners, as well as work-charged, Panchayat Samiti, and Zila Parishad employees. The state government will incur an annual cost of approximately Rs 1,640 crore due to this hike.

Rajasthan Approves 4% Increase in Dearness Allowance

The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, has approved a 4% increase in the dearness allowance for state employees and pensioners, following a similar increase for central employees. This decision has brought relief to government employees on Saturday, as both the central and state governments have taken steps to alleviate the impact of inflation on their employees by increasing the dearness allowance.

On Saturday, the government of Rajasthan declared a raise of 4% in the dearness allowance granted to the state employees and retirees. As of January 1, 2023, they will now receive a 42% DA, which is a rise from the previous rate of 38% DA, as reported by the news agency PTI.

According to an official statement, around 800,000 state employees and 440,000 pensioners will be positively impacted by the decision. This benefit will extend to work-charged, Panchayat Samiti, and Zila Parishad employees in addition to state employees. The state government will incur an annual cost of approximately Rs 1,640 crore due to this hike.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot pointed out that the central government’s DA announcement is typically implemented after a prolonged delay, but the Rajasthan government is committed to promptly paying the increased amount in addition to making the announcement.
