Revision of Rule 6 of SAS Rules 2019: Restriction of number of chances to appear in SAS part I and Part Il Examination to be conducted on Computer Based Test
The Controller General of Defence Accounts has revised Rule 6 of the SAS Rules 2019, which pertains to the number of chances an individual may have to sit for the SAS Part I and Part II exams. Previously, there were no restrictions on the number of attempts allowed, but the new rule limits candidates to a maximum of four tries for each exam. The revision also clarifies that only those who pass SAS Part I may proceed to SAS Part II. This change may be granted additional chances on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the CGDA.

Reference is invited to HQrs. Office Most Important Circular cited under reference regarding restructuring of SAS Examination (Computer Based Test) and notification of SAS Rules 2019 enclosed as Annexure “A”.
2. As per approval accorded by the Competent Authority following amendment in Rule 6 of SAS Rules 2019 regarding number of chances for appearing in SAS Examination may be carried out :-

There is no restriction for candidates for appearing in the SAS Part-l and SAS Part-II Examination. Only those who pass Part-I, will be allowed to appear in Part-II of the examination. | Candidates appearing for the SAS Part-I Examination are eligible to sit for the examination upto a maximum of four occasions. Similarly, candidates appearing for the SAS Part-II examination are eligible to sit for the examination upto a maximum of four occasions. Additional chances may, however, be permitted by the CGDA as per merit of each case. |
2. Further, it is clarified that in term of Rule 2 of SAS Rules 2019, only those candidates who qualify the SAS Part-1 examination will appear in SAS Part-II examination.
