Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) the number of CGHS dispensaries, wellness centres, empanelled private hospitals and diagnostic centres across the country, State/UT-wise;
(b) whether there is a shortage of Doctors, staff and medicines in such Hospitals, Dispensaries, wellness centres across the country and if so, the details thereof and measures taken by the Government in this regard;
(c) whether the Government proposes to set up more CGHS dispensaries and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and
(d) whether deficiencies/irregularities in the functioning of CGHS has come to the notice of the Government and if so, the corrective measures taken in this regard?

(a) Details of the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) Wellness Centres functioning in the country and private hospitals and diagnostic centres empanelled under CGHS is at Annexure.
(b) 376 posts of GDMOs, 91 posts of Specialists and 1188 posts of Paramedical staff are vacant in the CGHS Wellness Centres across the country.
Following measures have been taken by the Government in this regard:
(i) Appointment of retired doctors on contract basis as a stop gap arrangement to fill the vacant posts.
(ii) The age of superannuation of General Duty Medical Officers of CHS (Central Health Services) has been enhanced to 65 years.
(iii) Powers have been delegated to the Additional Directors of the concerned CGHS cities for recruitment of para-medical staff.
(iv) Additional directors have taken steps to fill up the vacant posts of para-medical staff on contract basis as an interim measure.
To ensure availability of medicines at the Wellness Centres, Medical Stores Organization has issued e-tender for procurement of Generic medicines. Also Medicines, which are not available at CGHS Wellness Centres, are procured through Authorized Local Chemists.
(c) Orders have been issued for opening of CGHS Wellness Centre in the following cities:
Raipur, Itanagar, Agartala, Imphal, Aizwal, Kohima, Panaji, Gangtok and Vishakhapatnam
(d) No major complaints of irregularities in the functioning of CGHS Wellness Centres is on record. Grievances received are addressed to on merits of case by Additional Directors from time to time.
