Color coding for sanctions related to various types of transactions in the e-Bill functionality of PFMS
The Government of India’s Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure, has introduced a color coding system for various types of e-sanctions within the e-Bill functionality of PFMS (Public Financial Management System). As per an office memorandum dated 28th August, 2023, the color coding aims to aid different levels of Treasury users, including Sanction Makers, Checkers, Drawing and Disbursing Officers, Dealing Hands, AAOs, and PAOs, in identifying specific types of sanctions and bills. The color codes are accessible under the “e-Sanction > Manage e-Sanction” page. The memorandum emphasizes the importance of communicating this feature to all relevant office users to ensure its effective utilization.

Subject: Color coding for sanctions related to various types of transactions in the e-Bill functionality of PFMS-reg .
The undersigned is directed to refer to the subject above and state that color coding has been provided in PFMS for specific types of e-sanction at the level of all types of Treasury users viz. Sanction Maker, Sanction Checker, Drawing and Disbursing Officer, Dealing Hand, AAO and PAO. The color coding is available under e-Sanction>Manage e-Sanction page to facilitate users to identify the particular types of sanctions/bills. Four colors are given to different types of e-sanctions as under:-
