Office Memorandum.
Subject :- Fixation of pay of temporary peons (including farashes, Chaprasis, durwans, Chowkidars and khalasis) employed in the Government of India Secretariat and Offices attached these to in the “prescribed scale.”
The undersigned is directed to state that a doubt has been raised as to whether the pay of Rs.15 p.m. granted to temporar/ peons (including farashes, chaprasis, durwans, chowkidars and khalasis), vide this Ministry’s Office Memorandum No.F16(26)-Ex.I/44, dated the 23rd December, 1944, should be treated as “present pay” for the purpose of Rule 8 of the Central Civil Services (Revision of Pay) Rules, 1947. It is evident from this Ministry’s Office Memorandum No.F.6(24)-Est.III/46, dated the 28th August, 1946, that this temporary concession should be deemed to have been withdrawn with effect from the 1st January, 1947, reducing the pay of these peons to Rs.14 p.m. with effect from the same date. The later rate should, therefore, be treated as the “present pay” for the purpose of fixation of pay in the prescribed scale of Rs.30-1/2-35.
