OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject :- Grant of next increment under CCS(RP) Rules, 1986, in case of Government servants who reached the maximum of the existing scale during 1985.

The undersigned is directed to say that under Rule 8 of CCS(RP) Rules, 1986, the next increment of the Government servant, whose pay has been fixed in the revised scale under Rule 7(1) of the said rules, shall be granted on the date he would have drawn his increment, had he continued in the existing scale unless he is covered by the proviso of these rules or notes thereunder. A question has been raised as to what should be the date of next increment in the revised pay scale in case of a Government servant who reached the maximum of the existing pay scale during 1985. The President has been pleased to decide that :

(i)In cases where the Government servants reached the maximum of the pre-revised scale (having annual increments) after 1.1.1985, the next increment in the revised scale shall be granted on the completion of service for the full incremental period for increment as prescribed under FR 26 from the date on which he reached the maximum of the existing scale.

(ii)In cases where the Government servants drawing pay in the existing pay scale, having biennial increment, reached the maximum of the pre-revised scale shall be admissible on next increment in the revised scale shall be admissible on completion of service for the full incremental period for increment as prescribed under FR 26 from the date of election of revised scale of pay.

2. In so far as their application to the employees of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department is concerned, these orders issue after consultation with the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.

    Mr. A WAS ON EXTRA ORDINARY LEAVE AND SUBSEQUENTLY EXPIRED .BUT HIS DATE OF NEXT INCREMENT FALLS DURING THE EOL PERIOD. WHETHER IN THIS CASE INCRMENT CAN BE SANCTIONED OR NOT
