Overview of the Office Memorandum
The Department of Posts has introduced a new initiative called ‘GDS Adalat’ to address the grievances of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS). This initiative, similar to the ‘Staff Adalat’, aims to provide a platform at the Circle and Regional levels for timely resolution of issues faced by GDS employees.
Key Highlights:
- Objective: To address and resolve grievances such as delayed payments, non-regularization of service, and other administrative issues.
- Frequency: ‘GDS Adalats’ will be held twice a year — once from January to June and again from July to December.
- Leadership: The CPMG and PMG will head the sessions at the Circle and Regional levels, respectively.
- Grievances Covered: Issues like delayed gratuity payments, absence condonation requests, and delays in disciplinary inquiries are among those that can be raised.
- Voluntary Participation: GDS participation is voluntary, and no travel allowances or special leave will be granted for attending.
- Documentation: The minutes of each session will be submitted to the DDG (Estt., DE & Legal) by the Circle, ensuring a formal record of grievances discussed.
This initiative is designed to enhance the grievance redressal process for GDS employees, ensuring better resolution and transparency in addressing their concerns.
