The Central Government Holiday Home in Mussoorie was built for the British during the colonial period. The holiday home was built in 1887 by Sir George Everest, then the Surveyor-General of India. It is located at a height of 2,500 meters and overlooks the Doon Valley and the Himalayan peaks. The holiday home is now a heritage hotel with an excellent location as it is surrounded by pine trees, which provide a pleasant view.
