Sub: Promotion of Pointsmen category from GP 1800/Level I to GP 1900/Level 2 on completion of residency period of 2 years-reg.
Ref: Railway Board’s letter No.E(NG)I/PMI/20/20 dated 8th January 2019 (RBE No.03/2019).
Pursuant to the demand raised by NFIR in the PNM forum for reduction in the residency period from 3 years to 2 years for promotion of staff of all departments working in GP 1800/Level 1 to GP 1900/Level 2, the Railway Board vide letter dated 8th January 2019 took decision to reduce the existing 3 years residency period to 2 years to facilitate promotion of lowest level staff to GP 1900/Level 2.
Federation has received reports that the instructions issued vide RBE No.03/2019 dated 8th Jan 2019 are being implemented on some Zonal Railways in respect of Pointsman category for their promotion to GP 1900/Level 2, while some Zonal Railways are not implementing the same.
NFIR, therefore, requests the Railway Board to kindly issue clarificatory instructions to all Zonal Railways to the effect that the instructions contained in RBE No.03/2019 dated 8th Jan’ 2019 are applicable for Pointsman category also.
Federation may kindly be kept apprised of the action taken.
