Guidelines for Incentives to Active Sports Persons

Incentives for Active Sports Persons (DAD Employees)

This circular, issued by the Office of the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Army) in Chandigarh, highlights incentives for active sports persons who are DAD (Defence Accounts Department) employees. Referencing a letter from the DASCB (Defence Accounts Sports Control Board), the circular outlines guidelines approved in the 23rd Annual Meeting. These guidelines include provisions for 2 hours of training/practice during working hours, allocation of a yearly budget for sports kit/uniform/sports gear, and recognition for position holders/winners in various tournaments.

Sub: Incentives for Active Sports Persons (DAD Employees)
Ref- HQ letter No. DASCB/1001/ 23 Meeting/2023, dated 20.10.2023

Secretary DASCB vide HQ letter cited under reference has issued certain guidelines for approving the grant of incentives to active sports persons as per the decision taken in 23 Annual Meeting of DASCB. The guidelines approved by DASCB are reiterated as under:-

(i) Provision of allowing 2 hours during working office hour for training/practice to improve the performance of Active Sports Players in the field of their sports may be allowed by the controllers subject to the condition that such relaxation should not be misused and be only for bonafide purpose. Sports quota recruits who are permitted to avail the relaxation may categorically provide the information viz., venue of the practice,name of the Coach(if any) name of the teams(in case of team events such as Cricket/Hockey/Volleyball etc.) and name of the players (in case of individual events such as Table Tennis/Badminton/chess etc.) with whom they are practicing, etc to their offices. The offices at their discretion may occasionally verify the same through surprise checks, etc.

(ii) Provision of Sports Kit/Uniform/Sports gear to active sports person may be considered yearly up to monetary limit of Rs 5000/- on the recommendation of respective Pr.CDA/CDA. Purchases made will be verified by the respective controllers and the vouchers may bé forwarded to DASCB for recoupment.

(iii) Sports person who will be position holder/winners (1st, 2st and 3rd ) in the State/National/International tournaments or in the DASCB sponsored tournament will be offered recognition certificates/Letters from the Chairman of the DASCB.

(The active sports person/players will be those sports quota recruits who have participated in at least 3 events of State/National level importance, in last 2 years each, in his or her stream under which he/has been recruited. Such events also include the tournaments sponsored by the DASCB)
