Sub: Additional Relief on death/disability of Govt. servants covered under NPS -identification of beneficiary
As per extant instructions issued vide Milo Finance letter No.1(7)/DCPS(NPS)/ 2009/TA/221 dated 02.07.2009, the Banks are required to complete identification formalities of the beneficiaries under intimation to the CPAO (FA & CAOs in case of Railways) electronically to enable commencement of credit of pension to pensioners account. After identification of the Pensioner, his copy is to be invariably handed over by the concerned branch to the pensioner. However, due to lack of awareness among bank/beneficiaries, instances of delays in issuing the identification certificate by the banks were being reported, resulting in delay in commencement of payment of additional relief. The matter was taken up with RBI to issue suitable instructions to all the Banks to sensitise all their branches for expediting the certification process so that delays in commencement of pension in such cases are avoided. Necessary instruction in this regard have since been issued by RBI to all banks. A copy of the instructions issued by RBI is enclosed for information and necessary action.
