New Delhi, dated 12.05.2022

The General Manager (P)

(As per Standard mail list)

Sub: Engagement of Ex-Servicemen against vacancies in Safety Categories of Bridge Organisation, Track Machine Organization and other similar technical safety categories on Contract Basis.
Ref: Board’s letter No. E(NG)II/2021/RC-4/1 dated 12.10.2021 (RBE No.73/2021).

In terms of Board’s letter of even number cited under reference, the scheme for engagement of Ex-servicemen against vacancies in Safety Categories of Bridge Organisation, Track Machine Organization and other similar technical safety categories on contract basis was last extended upto May 2022 in the category of Gateman only with the stipulation that such engagement be restricted to actual number of Gateman already engaged or 50% of vacancy, whichever is less.

2. It has now been decided to extend the scheme of engagement of Ex-servicemen on contract basis for further period of one year beyond May 2022 i.e. up to May 2023 as per extant terms and conditions. Engagement should be made in the category of Gateman only. The quota of such engagement Railway wise will be limited to number (3744) indicated in the enclosed “Annexure”.

3. It has also been decided that engagement of Ex-servicemen on contract basis should mandatorily be done through GeM.

4. It is reiterated that above engagements should be phased out gradually over the course of year as regular employees become available from new appointments. This should be closely monitored at zonal level.
