Sub: Additional relief on death/disability of Government Servants covered by the Defined contribution pension scheme (NPS)
It has been again brought to the notice of Board’s office that in some of the Zonal Railways,family pension to NPS beneficiaries has not yet commenced. This is a matter of grave concern.
In this regard, detailed instructions have been issued from time to time for making provisional pension payment to the eligible NPS beneficiaries by the Railways directly to the pensioner’s account through ECS/RTGS etc. It is presumed that all the Railways and PUs have brought out a Joint procedure Order in place duly signed by personal Department and Accounts Department to ensure smooth disposal of such settlement cases. These instructions were reiterated vide Board’s letter dated 02.01.2017 (RBA No.1/2017). A compendium of circulars compiled by PFRDA has also been uploaded in website of IR (RBA No.162/2017)
A detailed report on the number of such cases pending on your Railway may be sent to this office by 15.12.2016.
