+619. SHRI KANAKMAL KATARA:
Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is aware that Patidar, Patel and Dangi community in Rajasthan are included under the State Other Backward Class (OBC) list but they are not part of the Central OBC list;
(b) if so, the reasons for non-inclusion of the said communities in the Central OBC list;
(c) the steps taken by the Government to include the said communities in the Central OBC list;
(d) whether the Government has taken steps to support the educational and employment aspirations of the youths from the said communities in Rajasthan;
(e) if so, the details thereof; and
(f) whether the Government proposes to take any steps in this regard and if not, the reasons therefor?
ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT (SUSHRI PRATIMA BHOUMIK)
(a) to (c): Inclusion/exclusion of Caste/communities in the Central List of OBC is being done in terms of Article 342A of the Constitution. Accordingly, consultation with the State Government and NCBC is required. No recommendation or representation has been received from the State Government of Rajasthan for inclusion of Patidar, Patel and Dangi community in the Central List of OBC.
(d) to (f) In the matter of direct recruitment to Central Government jobs and in admission to Central Government educational institutions, 27% reservation 1s available to the OBCs. So far as provision of reservation in State Government jobs and educational institutions, the matter falls within the purview of the State Government.
