Subject: Medical Allowance to State Government Employees and Pensioners etc.
The 7th AP & PPC has not made any recommendation for grant of fixed medical allowance referring to introduction of a Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme covering both indoor and outdoor treatment is respect of State Govt. employees and pensioners. Govt. of Assam has resolved that existing provisions regarding medical facilities and benefits shall continue as an interim measure till the time of further examination. The comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme is yet to be implemented.
In view of above stated reason and also in consideration of hardship caused to the Govt. employees due to rise in cost of medical treatment, the Governor of Assam is pleased to order for continuance of the existing rate of Medical Allowance to all categories of State Govt. employees, pensioners including family pensioners @ Rs. 600/- (Rupees Six hundred) only per month.
This will be effective from 1-4-2016 and will continue till introduction of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme in line of Govt. of India CGHS. As soon as the Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme is launched the present practice of payment of Medical Allowance shall be discontinued.
The expenditure on account of the Medical Allowance sanctioned herein shall be debitable to the respective Head of Account from which the Govt. employees, pensioners including family pensioners drew their salaries and pension respectively.
