Revision in the date of poll for Bye election to Assembly Constituencies of Maharashtra

The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has issued an office memorandum regarding the revision of the date of poll for the Bye-election to Assembly Constituencies of Maharashtra. The Election Commission of India has informed that the date of poll has been rescheduled and the revised date has been provided in the memorandum. The memorandum also reiterates the guidelines for closure of Central Government Offices and grant of paid holiday to all concerned on the date of election, as per an earlier office memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Training. The concerned authorities have been directed to bring these instructions to the notice of all concerned.

OFFICE MEMORANDUM

Subject: Revision in the date of poll for Bye election to Assembly Constituencies of Maharashtra

The undersigned ts directed to refer to this Department’s O.M. of even number dated 14.02.2023 and to state that, as informed by the Election Commission of India, vide their Press Note No. ECI/PN/9/EPS dated 25.01.2023, the date of poll of Bye-election to Assembly Constituencies of Maharashtra – has since been revised, as per details given below:

2. In this regard, it is stated that the guidelines have been issued by this Department, vide OM No. 12/14/99-JCA, dated 10.10.2001, regarding closure of Central Government Offices and grant of paid holiday to all concerned, including the daily wage/casual workers, on the date of election. It is reiterated that all the Central Government Offices and the Central Industrial Establishments, shall remain closed in the notified areas, where general election to the State Legislative Assembly Constituencies are to be conducted, on the date of Poll. Tne employees concern shall be granted paid holiday on the date of Poll to enable them to exercise their right to vote.3. The above instructions may please be brought to the notice of all concerned.4. Hindi version will follow.
