Any Indian Citizen in the age group of 18-60 years is eligible to join NPS. Now, the maximum age of joining NPS in the Private Sector i.e. under All Citizens Model and Corporate Model has been increased to 65 years from 60 years. Now, with this feature, the Subscribers who are willing to join NPS at a later stage of life can register to avail the benefits. |

NPS Regular – FATCA/CRS Certification
|
NPS Trust had initiated due diligence process under the alternative procedure of FATCA and sought Self-Certification from the Subscriber (for Accounts opened on or after July 1, 2014). To facilitate the same, initially the option was provided to Subscribers to submit physical FATCA declaration either to CRA or to the associated Nodal Offices for onward submission to CRA. Subsequently, the Subscribers were provided with an option to submit FATCA declaration online directly in the CRA system using login credentials. Also, the facility was made available to the Nodal Offices to update FATCA status of underlying Subscribers online in the CRA system. Now, an additional facility is made available to the Nodal Offices wherein Nodal Offices can update FATCA Certification of Subscribers through file upload. Nodal Office is required to log-in CRA system (www.cra.nsdl.com) using login credentials and click of ‘FATCA Upload’ option under ‘Transaction Menu’. Nodal Office will be required to upload .txt file and click on upload button. On successful upload of file, CRA system will generate unique File Reference Number (FRN). Nodal Office can use this FRN to check status of uploaded file. On successful acceptance of the file, status of relevant Subscribers will become FATCA compliant. |

NPS Regular – OPGM
|
In case of Online PRAN Generation Module (OPGM) under State Government, DDOs are allowed to capture the registration details of underlying Subscribers and the same are verified by the associated DTOs / DTAs. Now, based on requests received from some State Governments, changes have been made in OPGM for the respective State Government such that DTO shall raise capture the registration details and associated DTA shall verify the same. |

A facility is made available to the Nodal Offices wherein Nodal Offices can update FATCA Certification of Subscribers through file upload. Nodal Office is required to log-in CRA system (www.npslite-nsdl.com) using login credentials and click on ‘FATCA Upload’ option under ‘Transaction Menu’. Nodal Office will be required to upload .txt file and click on upload button. On successful upload of file, CRA system will generate unique File Reference Number (FRN). Nodal Office can use this FRN to check status of file uploaded. On successful acceptance of file, the status of the relevant Subscribers will become FATCA compliant. |

eNPS – enhancement |
Subscribers can make subsequent contributions through eNPS. At present, OTP based authentication is carried out for making subsequent contribution. Now, an additional screen is displayed to the Subscriber mentioning last four digits of the registered mobile number to which OTP will be sent. Further, additional message as “Please check your account balance and Third Party Transfer Limit before initiating contribution request” is also displayed for information. Subscriber, OTP will be sent to the registered mobile of Subscriber. |

eNPS – KYC verification |
Under eNPS, Subscriber can register using Aadhaar or using PAN (KYC Verification by Bank). PRANs generated through PAN are in freeze status till the KYC verification is done by the Bank. In case of registration through PAN, the following changes have been carried out for the process improvement: 1. If the KYC is rejected by Bank, the same can be verified by CRA user. 2. During KYC verification, once the record (PRAN) is verified, the User was required to select the date range once again to obtain the list of PRANs to be verified. Now, the next pending application will be displayed on screen by default once the previous record is verified. 3. A download option for list of PRANs wherein KYC has been verified, rejected and kept on hold is made available. 4. A category ‘Others’ has been added to provde reason/remark for pendency for on hold 5. cases. If such PRANs are activated due to Soundex or other activities, the same would be available to Bank for KYC verification. |

NPS Regular – Subscriber Registration |
As per PFRDA’s approval, new Subscriber Registration Form (CSRF) has been implemented under NPS. The new CSRF has provision for Subscribers to provide various details/information which are required under FATCA/CERSAI compliance. Also, the new CSRF facilitates Subscribers to provide Aadhaar alongwith Aadhaar Consent (as per UIDAI guidelines) to ensure compliance under PMLA Act. In addition, All Citizens of India & Corporate Subscriber can also provide the Retirement Adviser Code, if applicable. The new CSRF has facilitated compliance for FATCA/CERSAI/PMLA/UIDAI Act. |

At the time of registering under NPS, Subscriber has to provide various details such as Personal Details, Nominee Details etc. Subscriber is also required to provide Bank details. For Bank details, MICR code was mandatory field. However, as many of the bank branches may not have MICR code, the field has now been made non-mandatory for Subscriber Registration.

Under NPS, Nodal Offices can modify Subscriber’s details such as Address, PAN, Aadhaar, Bank details etc. At present, while updating Subscriber’s Aadhaar in the CRA system, a declaration is not provided by Nodal Office for collection of Aadhaar consent from the Subscriber. As per UIDAI guidelines, Aadhaar cannot be authenticated with UIDAI database without Aadhaar consent. Now, the Nodal Offices are required to provide declaration for Aadhaar consent at the time of addition/updation of Aadhaar in Subscriber details. |

All Sector – Contribution Processing
|
Earlier, the Nodal Offices were required to provide 26 digits PAOFIN (comprising six digit PAOFIN, seven digit PAO Reg. No & 13 digit Transaction ID) in fund transfer instruction, at the time of transfer of funds to Trustee Bank. In case of any Discrepancy in fund transfer, the funds are returned to Nodal Office on next working day. Now, in order to reduce instances of funds return, PAOFIN of 26 digits has been reduced to 13 digits i.e. Transaction ID. Nodal Office is now required to provide only Transaction ID at the time of funds transfer to Trustee Bank. |

The Subscribers registered on or after July 1, 2014 are mandatorily required to submit FATCA Self-Certification under NPS. Now, as per Regulatory requirements, self-induced contribution is restricted in PRAN till the receipt of FATCA compliance in that PRAN. |

The Retirement Adviser (RA) is appointed by PFRDA to engage in the activity of providing advice on NPS thereby to extend the reach of NPS. The online platform has been developed and released in the CRA system to facilitate registration of an individual/entity as RA. Now, RA can reset login password (IPIN) for CRA System using OTP based functionality wherein authentication will be carried out through One Time Password sent on mobile number registered in the CRA system. |

In case of All Citizens of India (UoS), MIS upload in the CRA system was mandatory for various activities such as Subscriber Registration, Tier II activation etc. If MIS was not uploaded by POP, the respective transaction would get rejected in the CRA system. In order to eliminate rejections due to non- upload of MIS, MIS upload has been now made non-mandatory for below mentioned activities: a. Online Subscriber Registration b. NPS Regular – Instant I – PIN/T-PIN |
Earlier, on registration of Subscribers in the CRA System, physical I-PIN & T-PIN mailers were being sent to all registered Subscribers. Now, Physical I-PIN & T-PIN mailer will not be sent to Subscribers if email ID & Mobile number (both) of the Subscriber is registered in the CRA system. For such subscribers, facility of instant generation of I-PIN & T-PIN has been enabled similar to eNPS Subscribers. Subscribers can generate IPIN instantly in the CRA system by getting a Unique Reference Number (URN) on registered mobile. TPIN can be generated by Subscribers by calling on CRA Toll Free Number and speaking to CRA Call Centre. |

NPS Regular – Transaction Statement |
The Transaction Statement download option is available to POPs in the CRA System. The following changes have been done in Transaction Statement download option available to POPs. 1. Incremental Transaction Statement download option has been provided with ‘unit holding dump’ on fortnightly basis to facilitate internal reconciliation of Subscribers holdings at POP level. 2. Complete download of transactions of PRANs currently associated with the POPs. In case of shifted Subscribers, transactions prior to transfer-in to the POP will not be part of the download. POP will have to make an offline request to CRA. |

As per amendment in Exit Regulations, 2015, the following changes have been carried out in Conditional Withdrawal: a. The pre-condition of Subscriber remaining invested in NPs for minimum 10 years is now revised to 3 years. b. Gap of 5 years between consecutive conditional withdrawals has been removed. |

Now, functionality has been enabled where Subscriber/Nodal Office will select ASP on the basis of age & corpus of the Subscriber. |
